You will lose everything...eventually.
And no I don’t mean when you pass on, though that will also happen.
I mean while you are still here, breathing, living, striving, or procrastinating. It’s already been pre-ordained in the cosmic web of the universe, that at some point in your life it will all be taken from you.
You will lose ‘the’ girl, the job, the parents, your home, your self image, your identity, all of it will be stripped from you, and you will be presented to the world naked and vulnerable. And all you have made of yourself up until that point, your skills, network, health, will be all you have to work with.
This is the story of a man becoming what he is meant to become. To be tested and molded into a King in his Fullness.
And as soon as it appears you’ve re-built yourself up, something or everything, will be taken again.
This isn’t meant to be a cynical pessimistic view on life, but for you to realize loss, pain, suffering as both inevitable and instrumental to Becoming. If you’re at a point in your life where you have already experienced these things in plethora, you know what I mean.
And if you haven’t, keep reading so you know how to face the inevitable with dignity,
You have heard it before “Be the hero in the movie of your life”, but I also look at it as being the Hero you were pre-written to be.
To get into the depths of this, understand that all of our most cherished Hero’s faced the worst of the worst. Intergalactic threats, hoards of cartel or ninjas, demons, to even Satan himself. And none of them became prepared for that feat until everything was taken and they hit the lowest low.
Rock Bottom.
I don’t like to look at Rock bottom as a midway point, or the final act before the big resolution. I believe rock bottom, true rock bottom, is the beginning. It is the birthing point, the genesis of transformation for a man, if he knows how to view it properly.
When you have found yourself here, lost, broke, confused, alone, under tremendous pressure, looking to the sky hoping the God you believe in can tell you this is all some prank, that is when you can really assess yourself at rock bottom.
So what begins here? What really begins at what feels like the ending of everything?
That is actually going to be the focus of part 2, dropping next week.
This is the first newsletter in what is shaping up to be a prolific series on Philosophy, Masculinity, and Lifestyle.

Can't wait for part 2. I like and can relate to what I read so far.
I appreciate your optimistic approach and wise reflection on experiencing the lowest point(s) in life! This reminds me of a bible verse, Romans 8:18: “Our current sufferings aren’t worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in us.” Great job, Markel! 👍🏼
