“A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within, more than the lustre of the firmament of bards and sages.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is a short little something to tide us over until I finally get around to finishing something more substantial but you all will like this.
Something in me and my life has changed.
I don’t know if it's my prefrontal cortex in its final stages of development, if it’s my being saved by Christ, or some sick prank of me being woken up from the matrix and now hyper-aware of the world around me.
But something has definitely changed.
I’ve felt this itch before, it would show up periodically when I was younger, the itch to quit my job, rebel against my parents, or abandon a relationship or critical responsibility. I’ve been a runner and self-saboteur for the majority of my adult life. I wish I could say I know what I was running from all this time, but right when I think I have an answer something else comes to light and the introspective journey starts all over again.
And today of all days, I was hit with a paradigm shift.
What if it wasn’t me running from, but a part deep inside of me being called to?
What is different in me now, as opposed to before, is I feel I am being called by something Greater to be something greater. I almost want to say I’m being ‘lured’ because I feel the events around me, coupled with the dialogue of others around me have far too many synchronicities for me to ignore. Like the followers of the Pied Piper, a song is carrying me along a path that I cannot avoid.
And this time I intend to answer the call.
At the start of this short ramble, I used the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote to remind all of you that there is a gleam of light, a stroke of genius, that exists in all of us. Society at large tries to stifle the inner tune that walks us out of the ‘known’ into the unknown (read predictable and controllable into the wild and dangerous) and It’s our job to remove distractions enough that we can hear and be hooked by it.
That’s all, that's the post.
I have some exciting news coming soon, and I will begin posting weekly updates in my notes category.
Thank you all for reading, in the meantime, peace out cub scouts
